A Jungian dream journal that asks you what each symbol means to you before it offers a reflection, then remembers.
Every night they stage a play for you. Some of them come to bring you into deeper connection with yourself, and others come to disrupt and sow discord, and those ones will only stop once their voices have been heard.
DreamOS is where you can finally listen. It asks you who they are and what each of them means to you before it says a word, because you are the only one who has ever met them, and then it remembers, so that each dream builds on the ones before.
Opens 17 November, Sydney time · Free to begin · Built on Robert A. Johnson's four step process
Put a dream into most apps and you are handed a stock answer. A snake is transformation, water is emotion, and the same paragraph arrives for everyone who types the same image. The symbol dictionary does it, the self help book does it, the horoscope does it, and so does the guru.
Jung's own circle saw the trouble with this early on. Marie-Louise von Franz, asked about dream dictionaries near the end of her life, said she thought those books were "very, very bad", because they get you off the track by giving a static interpretation.
A static answer that has been made before anyone has asked you is a sure way to subvert personal meaning, and every time you receive one, the voices in you that were trying to be heard get talked over once more.
There is room for the great common images, and DreamOS makes use of them. But the answer to what it means for you belongs to you. DreamOS exists to turn you back towards yourself, with questions in the place of verdicts, so that you stop looking outside yourself and start looking inwards.
“Without, everything seems discordant; only within does it coalesce into unity.” Jung wrote that to a patient in 1916, and it sums up the reason DreamOS exists.
Before DreamOS reflects anything to you about your dream, it asks what each image and each figure brings up in you. Whatever surfaces first is generally the truth. The aim is to see where your own mind goes when you sit with each figure, and there is no wrong answer.
Next it asks what in your life right now might be stirring the same feeling, and which part of you the figure might be speaking for. You do not need to make it make sense at this stage. Just write whatever comes, as it comes, and let the thread run where it wants, with DreamOS asking the next question when you are ready for it.
Only now does DreamOS offer a reflection. It is built from what you actually told it, offered back as much as a question as an answer, and held loosely, because a dream can carry more than one meaning and is better left open.
Every dream ends with one or two small acts that give the figure a place in waking life, the way Jung's patients closed their own work, so that a voice you have heard does not have to keep shouting. You are invited to choose an act of your own.
Four steps, one dream. DreamOS opens on 17 November.
Keeping a paper journal first? How to keep a dream journal that reads you back, with the free Dream Tracking Guide.
You can talk through a dream with any AI and it will do a fair job, but it will probably not remember last week's dream, nor notice that the same figure has turned up four times this month, and it has no method, so it tells you what it thinks straight away.
A journal keeps everything you write and does nothing with it. DreamOS holds the process every time, asks before it reflects, and keeps count of who has come, so the patterns begin to show themselves.
If the first list sounded like you, the early circle is where to wait for it.
Dreams are just the beginning. The rest is where the work deepens.
Every figure and image you have worked through, in your own words. When one returns, DreamOS already has what you said last time and asks what has changed.
Associations, inner dynamics, reflection, ritual. The same four steps every time, in the same order, so that the reflection always comes after your input.
Everyone and everything that has appeared in your dreams, depicted as a living map with you at the centre. Figures find their place and change colour as they return and as you come to understand what they are to you.
The people who get under your skin, and the ones you envy, are carrying something of yours. Log the charge when it happens. DreamOS takes you through Robert Bly's Shadow Work stages with questions, and you decide what you find there.
Whatever captivates you more than it reasonably should is one of them. Log it, and look at what it points to in you that has not yet been lived.
Speak with a figure from your codex using Jung's Active Imagination technique. Get guided through the process and log your findings in the archive.
A few lines about your day, whenever you want. Your dreams draw on these entries when something relevant connects. Synchronicities and non ordinary events can also be logged here.
Every dream, named, dated and searchable.
Stop halfway through a dream and come back days later. Nothing will be lost.
Every 10 dreams you receive a synthesis of everything so far, which builds in richness the more you enter. Reflection reports can also be generated across your Shadow Work and Soul Work entries.
I spent years looking for answers outside myself, in books, teachers and other people’s opinions. Some of it helped. But I kept missing the thing that was already mine, which turned up every night and which I kept forgetting.
I also kept a dream journal for years. The same figures kept returning and I never got to know them. Every app I tried read the dream for me first, then gave me a paragraph it would have given anyone.
DreamOS is what I wanted instead. It waits while I say what each image means to me. Then it remembers, so tonight’s dream can draw on what I told it last month, and the Mind Codex grows from dark into a map of the figures I keep meeting.
It will not tell you who you are. Writing a dream down is free, and always will be.

No. DreamOS guides the process step by step. Knowing Jung deepens it, and it was built to work without any background.
No. It asks first, then offers a reflection built from what you said. What it means is yours to decide.
Your dreams and your dictionary are yours. You can download everything we hold for you, or delete your account and everything in it, from Profile, then Your data, and both happen straight away. Nothing you write is used to advertise to you or sold on. DreamOS is for self reflection and is not therapy.
The reflection is written by Claude, Anthropic's AI model, so what you type is sent to it through our server for that purpose and nothing else. Anthropic's commercial terms say it does not train its models on what comes through the API, and nobody at The Unified Way reads your dreams as a matter of course. It asks first and reflects afterwards.
